Every patient has a unique story. Each one has their own frustration brought on by their symptoms, and hope that they can find a treatment that will not only bring relief, but also fit their lifestyle. Here is Jeannie’s story.
A Torn Tendon
As an active woman in her mid-seventies, Jeannie didn’t like to slow down. But one day as she was walking in a pair of flip-flops, she slipped. “My sandal went one way, and my foot went the other,” said Jeannie. “That’s just the best way to describe it.”
Jeannie was frustrated because this was not the first time this had happened.
The First Time
Nine years ago, Jeannie had the same experience with her left foot. She went to an orthopedic doctor to repair the tendon, and her foot never seemed to heal after that. “My foot was swollen and eventually I had to have surgery again to repair the nerve damage,” Jeannie explains.
After that, Jeannie was hesitant to have surgery on her foot again and was looking for another option.
A Non-Surgical Approach
Jeannie came to see Dr. Anderson, and was excited to hear the good news.
Dr. Anderson says, “Jeannie was a great candidate for regenerative medicine therapy. She wanted to avoid surgery, and with this form of treatment, she could be up and walking again the next day.”
Regenerative therapies work by stimulating the body’s natural ability to heal itself. “We use a stem cell product, and also a regenerative product called AmnioFix, and this can be used to treat plantar fasciitis, osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries, and tendon tears,” says Dr. Anderson.
Regenerative treatments are simple, in-office injections that require little to no downtime, which was just what Jeannie was hoping for.
Regenerative Medicine to the Rescue
“Since Jeannie was still experiencing trouble with her left foot, we treated both feet with an AmnioFix injection,” Dr. Anderson explains. “We also fitted her for custom orthotics to provide support for her feet as they healed.”
Jeannie also had MLS laser treatment on both her feet. Dr. Anderson says, “This laser works on the cellular level by stimulating the mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cells), and helping the damaged tissue to heal faster.”
“Patients come to us every day with chronically damaged tissues, and issues like plantar fasciitis and arthritic pain. We have found that this combination of regenerative treatment, orthotics, and laser therapy helps patients not only avoid surgery, but get back to their regular activities much faster than they thought was possible,” Dr. Anderson says.
Jeannie’s Life Today
At her last follow-up appointment, Jeannie reported 100% improvement.
“I feel like I have brand new feet! For nine years, I could not walk for very long without having to stop. My daughter came to see me last week, and we walked a mile together,” Jeannie says.
“Now I can walk and be as active as I want, and I don’t have any pain. I tell everyone I can about this treatment because I feel so wonderful, and I am so thankful to be back on my feet.”
