The doctors at Anderson Podiatry Center are among the experts in treating neuropathy, restless leg syndrome, drop foot, and nerve pain with a groundbreaking new surgical procedure.
Nerve decompression surgery opens the tight area through which the affected nerve. This gives the nerve more room and allows blood to flow better in the nerve.
The surgery can be performed in our Surgery Center and takes about one hour, with one hour of recovery in the Surgery Center. Many surgical patients have noted restored sensation and reduced pain immediately after anesthesia wears off, and most patients can walk again right away.
When the nerves that have been “asleep” because of the compression awaken, you may temporarily experience hot or cold or shooting pain in your toes. This is a good indication of recovery, but you may feel some discomfort. There is medication available that can help with this discomfort.
